What is Gender in Grammar

In English grammar, Gender is a category of nouns or pronouns or none of them or subconscious substances, etc. Ex: Uncle, Son, Aunt, Baby, Teacher, Book, etc.

Gender এর বাংলা অর্থ লিঙ্গ। ইংরেজি গ্রামারে Gender কোন Noun বা Pronoun পুরুষ, স্ত্রী, ক্লীব নাকি উভয় লিঙ্গ তা বুঝায়।

Types of Gender in English Grammar

Generally there are four types of Gender.

Masculine Gender
Feminine Gender
Common Gender
Neuter Gender

1. Masculine Gender

Masculine nouns refer to the being which is masculine such as Men, Boys, and Male animals.

যে Noun বা Pronoun যে কোন পুরুষ প্রাণী বা মানুষকে বুঝায়, সেটি Masculine Gender

Example:

Man
Boy
Father
Dog
King
Author, etc.

A boy is playing in the playground. (Boy is masculine)

The hero is the movie is not a native of this country. (Hero is masculine)

2. Feminine Gender

Feminine nouns refer to women, girls and female animals.

যে Noun বা Pronoun যে কোন স্ত্রী প্রাণী বা মানুষকে বুঝায়, সেটি Feminine Gender

Example:

Woman
Girl
Mother
Bitch
Queen
Authoress, etc.

A girl is playing in the playground.
The heroine of the movie is not a native of this country.

3. Common Gender

A Common Gender includes masculine and feminine categories.

যে Noun বা Pronoun কোন প্রাণীর পুরুষ বা স্ত্রী উভয় অবস্থাকেই বুঝাতে পারে, সেটি Common Gender

Example:

Parents
Baby
Driver
Singer
Child
Teacher
Enemy, etc.

A child is playing in the playground.
A parliamentarian should have to commend over his language.

4. Neuter Gender

Neuter gender refers to the lifeless matter.

যে Noun কোন জড়বস্তুকে বুঝায় এবং যার কোন পুরুষ বা স্ত্রী লিঙ্গ হতে পারেনা, সেটি Neuter Gender
